In 2015, Pope Francis released Laudato Si, which calls us to live out our faith by making intentional efforts to care for our common home. In 2021, Catholic Earthcare launched its Earthcare Parishes program.

Did you know St Declan's is a registered Catholic Earthcare parish? As an Earthcare initiative, (that is linked to Laudato Si Goal 1: Response to Cry of the Earth and Goal 5: Ecological Education), we are inviting you to participate in a fun workshop, where you can come learn to build an Insect Hotel.

Insect Hotels are easy ways for us to encourage insects in our backyards. These insects then pollinate flowers which in turn provide food for us to eat. An Insect Hotel is a collection of small hollows that can be used by native bees or other insects looking for a place to rest and lay eggs. Click here to find out more about Insect Hotels

Come and join us in making your very own Insect Hotel!
