Lectio divina is simply reading the scriptures prayerfully and reflectively, and allowing God to speak to you through them. We read and reflect with no particular goal in mind other than to spend time with God and desire to listen to what God might be saying to us through the scriptures.
Prepare Yourself: Pick up a Bible or open a Bible app, you can also find the daily scripture reading under "Mass Readings" in our app. Select a short passage you would like to read. Find somewhere quiet to sit and spend a few moments slowing your breathing and relaxing into this special time with God. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you during this time of prayer.
Read - Read the passage slowly and listen for a word or phrase that stands out.
Meditate - Sit and ponder what this word or phrase may be "saying" or how it might connect to your life at the moment.
Pray - Speak to God about what's going on for you at the moment. You might like to journal, draw or paint a picture.
Contemplate - Simply sit in God's presence knowing that God knows and loves you.
Finish Prayer - Thank God for this time together and take your word or phrase with you to ponder throughout the day.
